leave it out Explanation: Very tricky term to translate because it can refer to almost any kind of financial calculation, though it normally describes theoretical figures of one sort or another. Usually somewhere close to 'notional/imputed' cost or 'standard' cost. But I think in this case he's talking about actual costs and is just saying that it's not economically feasible to produce it unless the right raw materials/processes are used, so I think it's being used as one of those German abstractions which don't add anything and which we leave out in English. You could perhaps say 'only if...is it possible to calculate a cost of production for yeast which...'. The one translation that doesn't work is 'calculatory' (despite previous kudoz answers) because the term is unknown in English and will only mean anything to German speakers |
