German term or phrase: auskragende Deckenkonstruktion
Context:

"in auskragenden Deckenkonstruktionen".

Talking about places where thermal bridges may occur, e.g. "Geometrische Wärmebrücken finden sich z.B. in Gebäudeecken, in Fensterbereichen, in auskragenden Deckenkonstruktionen, etc."

Cf. "Non-repeat Thermal Bridging usually occurs at junctions of building elements such as a wall/floor, wall/roof or wall/window junction, etc."

Explanation:
... or "floor designs". Another term springing to mind for "auskragend" is "cantilevered".

I'd play it safe and stick to either ceilings or floors ("floors" is often used as a synonym - cf. [precast] hollow-core floors - Hohldecken).

overhang roofs/ceilings

Explanation:
I believe this term is what you're looking for. Whether roof or ceiling is probably evident with more context. Hope this helps.

In terms of thermal bridging, I also think that roofs are the more logical choice. As for protruding/projecting or cantilevered vs. overhang... that should probably be determined by whether you are translating into GB or US English.

Notes to answerer
Asker: That is one of my main problems - this is almost completely sans context, in TTX file with no images or anything. I suspect (logically) that it means roof, even though it appears to mean ceiling.

The new casino on Mythenquai is characterized by its protruding ceilings, which emphasize the strong horizontal layering of its internal functions. Braces and notches of the respective levels create spacially overlapping situations, prolonging and highlighting the wide vistas over lake Zurich.
