'I don't understand what this word is saying - protects against streams of water.
This is from a web site for a company that makes anti-water erosion mats and products.

agree  Erich Friese: ....it's a 'stretch' at best.....washing is not the same as 'trickling' (= a VERY SLOW washing away)//THE CRITICAL ELEMENT IN THIS PROCESS APPEARS TO BE THE FLOW RATE, WHICH MUST BE SLOW, ALBEIT....TRICKLING.....not fast, as in ...washing ><)))):>...

  -> Thank you, Erich. Yes, the dictionaries give "trickling" for "rieseln", but somehow solid material "trickling" does not sound right. "Rieseln" doesn't imply that it has to be slow. And "washing away" can be over time too
