Es gab eine große Herausforderung für die Architekten. Die auf dem Grundstück vorgegebene Baumaske war sehr groß und damit eigentlich nicht optimal für ein Wohngebäude, da bei einer klassischen Bauweise nur wenig Licht ins Innere gelangt wäre. Die Architekten haben aber Teile der Grundfläche ausgespart und das Gebäude in der Mitte offen gestaltet, so sind sowohl die im Gebäudeinneren liegenden Gänge als auch die im äußeren Bereich liegenden Wohnungen lichtdurchflutet. Alle Wohnungen sind sehr hell, verfügen über großzügige Balkone und bieten einen wunderbaren Ausblick. Auf der 12. Etage gibt es eine großzügige Sonnenterasse mit Poollandschaft.

Baumaske
Ein selbständig nicht bebaubarer Grund zwischen vorderer Grundstücksgrenze und der planmäßigen Straßengrenze, z.T. auch als Ergänzungsfläche bezeichnet. Im engeren Sinne wird als Ergänzungsfläche nur die an der seitlichen oder hinteren Grundfläche anschließende Fläche verstanden, die selbständig nicht bebaubar ist.

I think that might be it; local code specifies (in my area) that building be set back from the property lines (15 feet in back and 5 on the sides; not sure about the front.)
