Ich bin doch etwas erstaunt, dass in dieser Richtlinie "Inspection" mit "Kenntnisnahme" gleichgesetzt wird. Entweder ist "Kenntnisnahme" zu schwach, oder "Inspection" zu stark ausgedrückt. Das erste ist mehr zufällig, und das zweite gezielt gewollt.

Here it is:

"Kenntnisnahme" in this context means to retrieve or, more generally, to obtain information. Kenntnisnahme = sich Informationen zu eigen machen

This is what happens when context is sparse, people do not know what they're translating and askers don't return to close their questions.

I can only ask herbalchemist (Happy Easter, by the way!) to correct this, unless you want to end up with "acknowledging data."

If you don't mind my saying so, this isn't that difficult if you've ever used, say, MS or Oracle business software. As said to Johanna, "Kenntnisnahme" is just a stilted way of saying you've obtained the information/read the file. "Inspection" is something else in this kind of context, IMO. But it's not as wrong as the two answers I added my disagreement too.

...this is about "Kenntnisnahme":
