German term

prozess-fern

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Systems, Networks Process Control System
Hi Proz-Peeps!

This term occurs within the following context:

Prozessleitsysteme (engl.

The term "prozess-nah" or "process-oriented" in English would seem to provide a clue. But I have been unable to find a suitable term for "prozess-fern" in my research.

I know there must be someone out there who translates this sort of thing all the time and knows exactly what this term is in English. If so, kindly chime in! :o)

OK You prodded me into it.

Thanks.
David Moore (X) Jan 15, 2014:
Yes, I'd go along with that too.

That's a good idea. Why not put it as an answer?
jccantrell Jan 15, 2014:
local vs. remote From your context, I would shy away from 'process-oriented' here. I think they are referring to location more than a concept. It sounds to me like they have some components that are mounted right where the machines are working and others that are located remotely, like in the air-conditioned control room where the highly paid technical professionals, like Homer Simpson, sit.

remote

I think this refers to local and remote components!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you everyone! I chose this one as the most concise definition and because it makes reference to "local" components as well. Thank you everyone!!!"
