German term or phrase: Interaktionsbereiche
Context:

"Besonders gut, seien die aufgeräumten Interaktionsbereiche: Die Flächen um Display und Tastatur zeichnen sich durch ein stimmiges Farb- und Oberflächenkonzept aus."

Again talking about an industrial laptop/Toughbook. This obviously refers to the keyboard, touchpad etc., but what would the generic term be here? I don't think it is interfaces, as that would mean (or include) thinks like the ports (USB slots etc.), but "interaction areas" just sounds so wrong here, even though it is used in other contexts.

Explanation:
A human interface device or HID is a type of computer device that interacts directly with, and most often takes input from, humans and may deliver output to humans.

That's why I proposed 'human interface' as an alternative to HID.
Re your problem with 'aufgeräumt', I would suggest 'uncluttered human interface'.

Incidentally, David, if your reread your question, you will see that it was you who first proposed a plural noun solution here.

Suit yourself, David. The purpose behind my answer was to introduce the key element of 'human'. If you can use that in a formulation of your own liking, then it will be yet another illustration of successful brainstorming on KudoZ. Hurrah!

Notes to answerer
Asker: I don't think that works here as it is a laptop/notebook, and hence all one device.

Asker: True. Although generally the term "uncluttered interface" refers to the GUI than to the hardware or peripherals, doesn't it?

Asker: Many thanks, Andrew!

agree  casper (X): Asker says: "This obviously refers to the keyboard, touchpad etc." When I unplug my keyboard and plug it into another USB port on my laptop, a pop up message in the right hand tray on my monitor says: "Detected new hardware: USB Human Interface Device".
