Hi,

This is from a small rush job about machine men in film:

DE:
Eine filmischer Dialog zwischen Fritz Lang’s Maschinenmensch Maria (Metropolis, 1927) und Donna Haraways Cyborg (The Cyborg Manifesto, 1985), ein Film in Richard Neutras Office Building (1950), Los Angeles
Wie würde ein Dialog zwischen Fritz Lang’s Roboter Maria und Donna Haraway’s Figur des Cyborgs ***verlaufen***?

Verlaufen is like ablaufen here, but using the verb "to proceed" does not work at all here, stylistically.
I was, then, thinking of something like "What would a dialog between ... look like?" and I am not happy with it.

How would you say "Wie würde ein Dialog zwischen X und Y verlaufen" in English?

American English would be preferable.

Thank you everybody. I went with the first usable contribution yesterday as it was an actual rush job. However, the points should go to the most appropriate version. Whereas I think "pan out" is a very original take here and I was considering it for receiving the points at one time, unfold appears to sounds a tad more natural. "Envision", in turn, as a means of setting up the sentence, as it were, does not work that well for me in this context as it introduces soemthing that isn't there in the rather technical, objective, scientific-like German even though it does not falsify the meaning.
