Document is about the properties of flouroplastics. I found "coating holdout" and "coating porosity" as possible translations but am not sure which one, if any of them, would be correct. I appreciate your help!

pore impermeability
Pore impermeability was also tested using a high voltage ( 10 KV) pore detector in conjunction with a broom electrode, the number of disruptive discharges being measured 15 Since this test is dependent upon the applied layer thickness, test plates with an applied PVDF layer thickness of 750 gm were also tested.

Note from asker:
Hmmh, maybe impermeability by itself is what I need. I found this link: http://www.iop.org/EJ/article/1468-6996/4/4/A03/STAM_4_4_A03.pdf?request-id=6f07b48a-81d8-41f6-9293-07b8c5ad0d9c "For 6 years, we have developed corrosion resistant coatings to protect steel structures in the marine environment by using a thermal spray technique. This paper summarizes the major developments and results obtained. Such a coating requires primarily impermeability and secondarily homogenous and clean microstructure." |

: not bad, either, even Google produces only 2 hits. http://www.gutbrod-ptfe.de/process_sequence.html?&L=2

Comment: "I am going to go with plain "impermeability." This word produces a lot of google hits in my context. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!"

: Dichtigkeit is not the same as density; that you find Google hits for both terms independently doesn't proof anything

(coating) holdout
nach: Langenscheidt Fachwörterbuch Technik und Angewandte Wissenschaften
"coating holdout" (= resistance to penetration) is a little more general than coating porosity. The holdout depends on the porosity but also on other parameters like roughness of the surface.

Johannes Gleim
: I do not think that resistance to penetration (Eindringwiderstand) is appropriate as translation of Porendichtigkeit. Porendichtigkeit implies that the pores are sealed.

pore tightness
the resultant film is very tight-pored and waterproof.
..
The coating obtained from this additional special composition has a high pore tightness, high elasticity and high strength of adherence.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4567230.html
The alternative "pore-tightness-check" method (spark inductor test) turned out to be a cost-saving and safe test method compared with the conventional water impact. Using this method, a tightness check can be made directly after the completion of the sealing, shortly before tiling work.
http://www.bauwerke-abdichten.de/english/feuchtigkeit4.htm
Pore tightness of the plastics coating means that commercially available magnesium or aluminium alloys with no special additives can be used for the castings so that the price of the casting can be substantially reduced.
...
The plastics coating is then hardened out at about 2000C and forms a pore- and pressuretight coating on the surfaces.

Note to 6 kV tested: This is obviously a dielectric withstand test (electrical strenght) and relates only indirectly to the pore tightness.
