I don't think 'subject matter' gets across the meaning of 'Anlass' in the temporal sense of 'occasion'.

Thank you for your help and thanks to the others as well, especially to Allegro Trans. In my opinion, "subject matter" would also work but I cannot split the points However, and even more important, "Beurkundung" in this context is certainly registration and not certification.

Asker: First of all, thank you for your answer(s). It is certainly about recording an event, here about the registration of a birth. I like your "nature of entry" very much; however, I think that "subject matter" would also work. That's a hard one to decide ... I will do so tomorrow.

agree  Helen O'Neill: "Circumstance(s):" would be my choice too. Suits the clear, precise linguistic tone of the source text [a form/register entry] and captures the sense of a "reason(s) for" or "occasion" of "Anlass", which is the key word here.
