German term or phrase: Betreuter Umsatz
Hello,
I'm looking for a proper translation of the term "Betreuter Umsatz". It is used in the company presentation of a digital agency.

">300 Mio. € betreuter Umsatz"

As far as I'm concerned, "betreuter Umsatz" covers all the money the agency gets from clients to create ads, build websites, etc.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

English translation:managed income/revenue
Explanation:
I think it's the income of the clients it manages, rather than its own.

If you think about it, the agency would have to be extremely large to generate €300 million on its own.

Or turnover, or sales.

"Managed revenue" is probably the best choice since I don't want to have a long explanation when all the other information in the presentation is summarised in bullet points. I've also found some UK sources using "managed revenue" in a similar context. Thanks once again!

Asker: You definitely have a point! I just made up a number in my example: the agency's actual "Umsatz" is not even €50 million while its "betreuter Umsatz" exceeds €4 billion. So it might actually refer to the income of all the clients it has (which are more than 100).

agree  David Hollywood: like "managed" but what do we do with "Umsatz"? In light of new context I think this is OK

Explanation:
Funds gets away from the BrE : turnover vs. AmE : sales dichotomy and a different way to go from a misleading, literal translation.

I have to post quickly before the gremlins sabotage this answer.

Example sentence(s):
  • The total volume of client funds managed by third parties making use of Sarasin ...

combined turnover/turnover from all sources

Explanation:
Seems to me that any literal translation of 'betreuter' doesn't get far. This I admit is based on lateral thinking and is perhaps what is meant here.

neutral  philgoddard: As Maximilian says, it's a much larger figure than the agency's own income.

total clients' sales under management

Explanation:
This is an interesting one. I agree with Phil, but would call it explicitly total clients' sales under management. Maybe something like "sales/revenue responsible for" could also work, if there is a better more to phrase it lol.

It is very similar to the idea of assets under management in the context of asset management.

Asker: This sounds like a good way to paraphrase it. I posted a definition of "betreuter Umsatz" in the discussion. How would you change your suggestion so that it becomes clear that it's only the "Umsatz" made via platforms, shops, etc. that the agency has developed?

Explanation:
ad agency income is called "Billings, received from their clients. After producing (hopefully) creative ad spots, they will buy space in the various media to showcase their work.
