  -> Funny you should say that: I always thought that "competences" felt better too, but somewhere along the line I admitted defeat.

agree  Languageman: I always thought that "core competencies" was the usual term, Google seems to back that up: 'core competencies" 1,270,000, "core competences" 301,000. Wikipedia prefers this one too // competency (Google )// Not for a business context
