German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Automation & Robotics / Welding Cells
German term or phrase: angemeldet
This sentence refers to the safety door to a welding cell:

"Mit Betätigen des Drehschalters im Uhrzeigersinn wird die Schutztür zum Öffnen angemeldet."

Would you suggest "logged in"? "Registered?" Does this mean that the door is actually MADE to open, or only made READY to open? Thanks for any help.

Explanation:
Je nach Ausführung und/oder Programmierung kann es durchaus sein, dass das Türöffnen irgendwo 'angemeldet' werden muss. Aber 'log-in', 'sign-in' oder 'register' kommt mir trotzdem nicht sehr plausibel vor. Ich denke eher an 'Freigabe'.

Could work in this context.

Anything along the lines of “registering” is obviously too formal and not appropriate in this context. To me, “slotted for opening” means the door will be “set to open” in a sequence of events triggered by the turn of the switch.

I have this modeled on the example below which describes a similar process:
"You can set the software to start a new one on the instant the old one finishes, so there's no telling how many movies were slotted for download."

neutral  philgoddard: This may just be my ignorance, but I don't know what you mean by slotted.

-> That's understandable. Not easy to find a suitable solution here. See added note.

neutral  writeaway: slotted is actually USA colloquial term, like 'on the cards for'. It means scheduled (for).

Explanation:
Clockwise turning of the dial sets the protective door to open.

Anmelden ist keine besonders gute Wortwahl hier. Vielleicht "ermöglicht ein Öffnen der Tür" wäre besser (facilitates opening etc)

Meaning that the safety lock for the door to the welding cell is switched off at the end of welding to permit access to the cell.

There are similar safety systems on the access doors to automated bodywork spraying lines in the automotive industry and in some situations where "robots" are used in assembly processes.
