To be fair, that doesn't matter because of German compound rules. Schiffahrt = die Fahrt des Schiffes/auf dem Schiff / diese Überfangung der Brüstung = diese Brüstungsüberfangung. The bigger issue I see is that the noun is much more commonly known as "Überfang" without "-ung".

This term doesn't appear in the text you have given in this precise form. Überfangung means the overlay, the overlaid element previously described. I can't see the image; I just get advertising pop-ups, but Brüstung can be a ledge, parapet, sill. It depends on the architectural style adopted in the pulpit, generally to match the rest of the church architecture.
