infection rate/incidence

An infection rate of 0.1 % in forage rye and 0.05 % in bread rye makes it impossible to market these goods.

Depending on how technical the text is, one could also say impurities.

: it's not the infection rate, it's called dockage in cereals. I think you mixed up with Befall, this is the infection rate. // Wendy, dockage IS an external element, look at my second reference, this gives you a definition.

I have the feeling that this is an external element not a disease. See: http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/dockage:... seeds of weeds and other waste material in commercial seeds, removable by normal cleaning methods
