series production Explanation: I agree with the objection against 'mass production'. I think 'volume production' when talking about aircraft production. 'Volume' is used for products made in thousands or thens or hundreds of thousands in less than a year. 'Serial production' is not correct as it is used for other contexts like serial interface, serial transmission, serial numbers, serial mounting etc. connoting a sequence in opposition to 'parallell' and others. serial production Explanation: I agree with serial production. I worked for different airlines for 13 years and that's how we refered to it. However..it usually means mass production . But just like you I find this term an "exageration" when we are talking of aircraft production. Langenscheidt + Wahrig DE W. |

large-scale production Explanation: "large-scale prouction" works well in subjects from software to Porsches to 747s. It's an imprecise term that, unlike mass production, doesn't offend logic in the case of a few dozen or hundred poroducts instead of thousands. AltaVista (English) [large-scale production] 9400 pages found word count: large scale production: about 30000; [+"large-scale production" +aircraft] 609 pages found [+"large-scale production" +boeing] 165 pages found [+"large-scale production" +airbus] 33 pages found AltaVista and relevant marketing, copywriting and translating experience |

serial manufacturing or repetitive manufacturing Explanation: I have had "Serienfertigung" as a term in a variety of tech. translations. One large airplane-manfacturing company requested "serial manufacturing" for their plane and plane parts. I have also been requested to use "repetitive manufacturing" in a tech. context. Good luck! |

line production Explanation: In my opinion Serie means the type of aircraft, not the volume of production. Langenscheidt and 20 years Airline Industry |
