German term or phrase: Ansatz, ansatzpflichtig
This is from a document detailing the preparation of a financial statement:
"Ansatz: Immaterielle Vermoegensgegenstaende des Anlagevermoegens sind grundsaetzlich ansatzpflichtig."

Does this have something to do with having to estimate the value? Is there an elegant translation? Thanks.

disagree  Ted Wozniak: Sorry but not one word of that is normal or standard accounting jargon. Well, except for "asset classes" but that still doesn't apply here.

agree  RobinB: This is presumably HGB, as the German terminology is not allowed for IFRSs, so "intangible assets" or "intangible fixed assets" (as per the new Deutsches Bilanzrecht/German Accounting Legislation) would be the appropriate term.//I don't get royalties!!!

agree  Alison Schwitzgebel: Robin just loves to get those plugs in for Deutsches Bilanzrecht ;-)
