loogcroissant Explanation: Ik kon het eerst ook niet geloven, maar het is dus echt natronloog dat traditioneel wordt gebruikt bij het bereiden van die pretzels en ander gebak. Het doet het deeg namelijk extra bruin worden door een bepaalde chemische reactie (zie Wikipedia). Dit verklaart dus waarom je dit gebak nooit echt in zijn echt traditionele vorm ergens anders dan in Duitsland en Oostenrijk vindt, want het gebruik en zelfs in huis hebben van loog is verboden omdat het een gevaarlijke stof is die erg corrosief is. Blijkbaar wordt er ook wel eens baksoda of wassoda gebruikt voor het verkrijgen van hetzelfde effect (mar het zal niet hetzelfde zijn).
