Parece que "signature" ya aparece entrecomillado porque no es un término habitual. Quiere decir detectar e identificar la "presencia" de una señal telefónica. Se hace con la propia información que está embebida en la propia señal telefónica. Realmente es como una "huella" asociada. Yo conservaría "firma" aunque entrecomillada. O también "presencia".
