Ho la seguente frase: "On avait beau lui dire que."
La mia traduzione è stata: "È stato vano dirgli che."
Come definizione di "avoir beau" ho trovato infatti "essayer en vain; faire quelque chose inutilement sans obtenir de résultat ".

Il testo parla di un ragazzo che non va molto bene a scuola. Questa frase viene detta da un genitore all'insegnante.

Volevo avere un vostro parere. Potrebbe essere giusta? Se non lo è, come potrei tradurla? Come la tradurreste voi?
