Troverai sul Granddictionnaire anche la definizione di "tranche" per quanto riguarda il settore del legno, ma non sono riuscito ad interpretarlo e non ho il tempo ora di fare ulteriori ricerche. NON credo che la mia risposta sia corretta e può essere che con questo termine si intenda l'allineamento o la disposizione in filari delle piante nelle singole unità di coltivazione. Per quanto riguarda il termine "plot" ti riporto qui sotto la definizione trovata:
