L'infeltrimento del prato è causato dall'accumulo dei residui dello sfalcio Anche se il tosaerba è dotato di raccoglitore, una certa quantità di erba rimane sul terreno e non riuscendo a decomporsi, va a formare uno strato compatto che impedisce al terreno di respirare, oltre ad impedire alle sostanze apportate con la concimazione di arrivare al terreno.
