carrying zone? too literal, I think, here is the context, I cannot insert the image as a link (it's a pdf) have tried various options to do so but it does not work, obviously if answerers could view the image, it might help!

Photo of the machine appears here

bearing surfaces
Explanation:
Bearing as in load-bearing. "Surfaces" corresponds better to "zones" than "points" does. Found this translation here:

lifting point

Explanation:
Some types of machinery are fitted with "lifting points" for attaching cables, etc. (see https://www.thecrosbygroup.com/products/hoist-rings-eye-bolt... On a car, the area where the jack is placed, is also called a "lifting point" (see https://www.bestcarmods.com/audi-a4-b8-lifting-front-on-jack...

The fact that this piece of machinery has "poignées" and "zones de portages" suggests "handles" and "lifting points" for lifting and moving it, whether manually or by means of lifting equipment.

Example sentence(s):
  • "Lifting points represent the connection between load and lifting gear. Chain slings, wire rope slings, lifting slings, etc. are used if loads have to be lifted or moved."
  • Filming equipment "should be fitted with handles and secure lifting points for chains or ropes."

neutral  B D Finch: That seems to be almost the right track, but a lifting point can't be described as a "zone".

  -> I agree that "zone" seems odd, but given the context (i.e. the machine seems to be fitted with these "zones" and "lifting *areas*" is also sometimes [incorrectly?] used in English), I suggested "lifting points".
