The term appears in an article about a fibre network rollout project.

"Nous poserons des armoires de sous-répartition optique (SRO) et nous procéderons au tirage/déroulage des câbles à fibres optiques..."

Are these referred to as subdistributor cabinets? Or secondary distribution frames?

Any help much appreciated.

If the cabinet is located outdoors, then it could be 'fibre-optic street cabinet'. (Recognising the validity of B.D. Finch's comment below).
