I just looked at the sentence from the wiki article:
The osciallatory nature of these spectra has the tendency of disappearing with an increase of pressure, showing only the peaks arising from the v≤2 level when the pressure is above 1 atm.

I doubt that a scientist would say something like "has a tendency to disappear," as if it sometimes did and sometimes did not. So, I agree - the English wiki is most likely a derivative translation.

Another take:
As pressure increases beyond 1 atm, the spectra lose their oscillatory character, leaving only the peaks corresponding to transitions from levels v≤2.
