I think "instrument" is sufficiently vague not to be wrong, plus the sentence is qualified by "ce type de détection", so it's reasonably clear what these instruments are doing.

agree  nweatherdon: at first I thought "reader" or "card reader" or something, but looking back to background readings when studying various investigations in biology/biochem, I can easily see "instruments" working perfectly find, although perhaps there is a better term
