Not so sure about the backbone of Canadian culture, though. What about ice hockey, maple syrup, having a chip on your shoulder about being mistaken for a Yank, ...?

I feel that "l'autre" is implicit in such warm fuzziness.

I would present it in this order so that nobody accidentally reads "concern for solidarity," thinking that in "concern for others and solidarity," for modifies solidarity and concern. not because it's not obvious, but to make the sentence read more easily.
