French term or phrase: « c’est en posant un acte de courage que l’on devient courageux ».
I'm tempted to translate this as "it's acts of bravery that make you brave" but am not sure if it's a well known saying in either language. As far as I can see Jolliien's works have not been translated but I do not think this is a quotation.

Dans la philosophie de la joie, « Alexandre Jollien met en évidence une approche ressemblante de l’appréhension du changement appliquée à la sphère personnelle. Il articule sa pensée en trois actes :

- VOIR : voir qui je suis et où je veux aller. « A me regarder, je suis d’ores et déjà un esclave en voie de libération ».

- INITIER : mettre en œuvre le changement ce qui signifie un acte de courage ; ce qu’il exprime par une maxime : « c’est en posant un acte de courage que l’on devient courageux ».

- PERSEVERER : ancrer le changement pour une politique des petits pas, qu’il assimile à la méthode des Alcooliques Anonymes.
