French term or phrase: volontés
I'm having difficulty with this fairly simple concept in the context below:

J’ai amorcé ma démarche scientifique par la réalisation d’un mémoire de maîtrise en sciences infirmières qui a mesuré l’influence des volontés d’une personne en fin de vie sur le choix d’un niveau de soins par des infirmières.

Or, again,

Un premier projet décrit les changements observés dans les pratiques et les croyances des intervenants, dans les expériences de soins des proches et dans la documentation des volontés des patients, suite à l’intégration de la théorie ...

This word recurs throughout the document, and I would like to find an equivalent that works in different contexts.
I might consider "volition" in the singular, but I find "volitions" jarring. I feel it is important to retain the plural here, as there are a plurality of "volontés."
I am also considering "expressed wishes."
I would appreciate any suggestions of a translation that would work in these contexts. Thanks.
