French term or phrase: t.
In the footnotes of this text from 1925, I often find abbreviations that mystify me; does anyone know what 't' stands for in the case below?

Princ. de metaphysique et de psych., 1897, t. I, p. 435 sqq.

Much thanks!

agree  Melissa McMahon: definitely "tome" in French, ie "volume" in English

agree  Muriel FINETIN: Cf. wikipedia: En langage bibliographique, un tome est une division logique d'un ouvrage, que l'auteur a voulue significative, par opposition au volume, qui est une division physique.

agree  Helen Shiner: This the safest solution, rather than vol. which may sometimes be appropriate, but not always. Sometimes both appear in one ref.

vol.

Explanation:
It would translate to volume, more than likely, abbreviated to vol.

  -> Thanks, Melissa.

neutral  Helen Shiner: In some cases, probably most, but not all - sometimes tome is the better solution. I have met cases where both are given - aargh!

  -> Actually, you are right... I've seen that too...

Reference information:
Journals are referred to by issue and volume. The issue is the journal itself, the tome/volume is the numéros/issues published in a year bound together.

I think "fascicule" = issue.

Though it looks like only your "Archiv. für G. der Phil." is a journal - "Principes de metaphysique et de psychologie" is just a compilation published in two volumes.
