This is a patent on a footwear sole:

"L'emporte-piece est positionne sur la bande en fonction du nombre de tuyaux necessaires a la longueur du talon. Pour une taille adulte, l'emporte-piece decoupe les 4 tuyaux de diametre superieur et pour une taille enfant, l'emporte-piece ne decoupe que deux ou trois des tuyaux de diametre superieur." thank you

neutral  chris collister: I would think "pipe" is unlikely. "Tube" (assuming this to be an elastic, possibly fluid-filled, component of the shoe) is probably a better fit, but further reading of the patent will provide more context.
