papier en 3ex paper in triplicate Explanation: Impossible to be sure without even a minimum of context, but in the case of things like contracts etc., when they say "en X exemplaires", they usually means 'X identical originals' (indeed, they even often explicitly state 'originaux' etc.), which is subtly different from a document of which 3 copies are made; hence using the more formal term 'in triplicate' often helps avoid any possible ambiguity that might be introduced. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2018-11-13 17:51:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In the case of plans, it will often be 'an electronic version + paper version in triplicate' etc. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 days 6 hrs (2018-11-16 21:48:34 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Now that we have that vital extra context — that it is about plans — I think we'd probably simply say '3 paper copies', as for plans there is no issue of their all being equivalent originals (as is the case for e.g. legal docs) |
