French term or phrase: concours
Hello

In an agricultural trade fair (poultry)

Monsieur X, docteur vétérinaire, en Amérique du Sud, a représenté la génétique NOM D'UNE SOCIETE lors du concours de qualité de l’œuf.

At first, I just took this to be a friendly competition (quiz) but I now see that the company is going out of its way to be present at two other similar events.

So I'm starting to suspect that "competition" is not right.

So what could it be?

Thanks

contest

Explanation:
This looks like a regular contest, such as those in agricultural fair. See https://national4hpoultry.ca.uky.edu/

Competition is also used

For a discussion between contest and competition see

IMHO, in your context, both are fine.
