Sorry you feel that way. I don't think that 'affect' or 'influence' and 'have a bearing on' can be used synonymously in this context. To "have a bearing on the facts" means "are relevant to the facts". It doesn't mean "affect the facts" or "influence the facts", which both sound odd to me, in this context. It would not have been right to accept either as a substitute for the best translation.

"Have a bearing on" means affect or influence. I don't see the point in posting synonyms of others' answers.
