Thanks for the background. I'll change it slightly to "securities repurchase agreement", also "repo" seems to be a synonym. On the basis of the English texts, I'll use "seller" for "donneur d'ordre" and "buyer" for "porteur".

agree  Paul Sadur: Thanks for you input. This is a chapter in a textbook. "Securities repurchase agreement" was more fruitful on Google. The problem with this text is the nuances they make in French are not easy to carry over into English.
