French term or phrase: congés solidaires
Comes from a company document explaining how their personnel can take leave to go the South to do relief work.

Can't find a UK/US site with something similar.

"Solidaire" is not "solidarity" for me, so need to find something else.

Humanitarian leave appears to have a completely different sense so should be ruled out.

Explanation:
I'm not sure from your context if this is a general leave given across the board to support volunteerism or if it is related to a specific event, but here are a few suggestions:

Perhaps if related to a specific disaster:
(Red Cross) Disaster Leave
Sabbatical Leave (I know usually related to education, but could be applied in these circumstances if work falls under 'continuing ed'
http://www.ohr.sc.gov/OHR/employer/OHR-tempgrant.phtm

This one is more general:
Emergency/Disaster Leave

Hope this helps!

leaves for voluntary activities/projects/aid

Explanation:
Since 1990, influenced by American companies, some Japanese companies have begun to establish systems to support employee volunteerism, including special leaves for voluntary activities and the establishment of employee-matching gift programs.

solidarity leaves

Explanation:
I worked many years in International Development and "solidarity leave" is the term used worldwide. The links below are from some of the main NGOs in Canada (CECI, WUSC) and one is from a major English-language newspaper (The Globe and Mail).

agree  LBMas: I wonder if solidarity leaves is more for non-profits and NGOs, and volunteer leave is used more in corporations...may be a UK/US distinction too
