French term or phrase: disponibilité
Mes félicitations vont également au directeur exécutif de XXXX dont le mandat tire à sa fin, pour **sa disponibilité** et sa rigueur professionnelle qui ont permis à l'Organisation, etc..

"professional rigour" could do .. à la rigueur. But "availability" would be wrong here. "disponibilité" means something akin to "readiness" or "proactive attitute", etc. in this context. Can't find the adequate English term.

You guys are all so brilliant that picking the genius among you is an IMPOSSIBLE task. But after checking *diligence* in following: "Demonstrates *personal diligence* or initiative by accepting responsibility for completing projects involving unexpected difficulties such as short deadlines, insufficient staff etc." I think I may have found my"disponibilité" here. And *rigueur professionnelle* should become *strict professionalism*. Many thanks to all of you with special acknowledgement to CMJ_Trans, Iol and Adam Warren who gave me excellent definitions of what I was looking for.

tireless efforts and professionalism

Explanation:
I wonder if this phrase doesn't include both traits "disponibilité et rigeur professionel." Tireless efforts are obviously above and beyond the call of normal duty/availability, etc. It might redistribute the emphasis too much. Your call...

You've got a feast of good suggestions (as in, feast or famine :))

Asker: Right! and it's no "mince feast" to make my pick through them! ;-) What would you think of "enthusiasm for duty"?

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
agree  Buzzy: I like this one. In the firm I started out in "disponibilité" really meant being at the beck and call of the company, ie working all hours, so "tireless" sounds good to me

this site gives one of the possibilites as receptiveness and a synonym of that as willingness.

Could we stretch it to enthusiasm ?

dedication

Explanation:
I think this is a measure of the time and energy recorded as spent, rather than of the time available, and of the readiness to act: all this in my view is summed up in the fairly forceful term I have offered. HTH & Regards

agree  Milad Mokhtari: Commitment is something near to "Engagement" which is not the case of disponibilité, therefore I would agree with iol, i.e, receptiveness. Je peux en ajouter aussi open-mindedness

was an asset

Explanation:
There are a lot of very good suggestions here, I just thought I'd throw this in here anyway.

What if you switched the phrase around, could possible make things flow smoother. Something like...

End the first sentence at the comma and begin a new sentence with..."He was a (great) asset and his professional rigour permitted the organisation to..."
Or
"He was an asset to the organisation and his professional rigour permitted us/them/ to..."

'asset' might be a way to infer all of those qualities mentioned above, most of which convey a sense of 'disponibilite'

Based on the new info, what about something like 'dedicated forethought'

Asker: Very pertinent suggestions. Thank you. How would "sense of involvement" ring to you? (is it my Frenchiness or are "assiduity" and "devotedness" not too closely associated with the "amorous" domain????)

unwavering dedication

unfaltering dedication

OR

steadfast dedication (except "steadfast" seems to have become a favorite adjective of President Bush, so might have undesirable connotations by now)
