Tireless efforts are obviously above and beyond the call of normal duty/availability, etc. It might redistribute the emphasis too much. Your call... What if you switched the phrase around, could possible make things flow smoother. Something like... End the first sentence at the comma and begin a new sentence with..."He was a (great) asset and his professional rigour permitted the organisation to..."
