French term or phrase: le compte de temps disponible
Context:
OPEN-ENDED EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

"La comptabilisation du temps de travail de XXX s’effectuera en journée entière et indivisible, par imputation du nombre mensuel de jours travaillés sur le compte de temps disponible."

Does available time account work?
I'm unsure about the term account, as it seems inappropriate for this field.

RTT Days Compensation Account
Explanation:

Compte de temps disponible (CTD) has a precise meaning: it is the amount of time (in practice: days) off that employees get in France through RTT (réduction du temps de travail), that number being proportional to the number of days on which you worked during a given period. Cf. your text: …imputation du nombre mensuel de jours travaillés sur le compte de temps disponible.

From memory, it has no legal definition and is not mentioned in the law on RTT - employers are merely told they're responsible for keeping track of their employees' RTT entitlement. It is however mentioned in all (as far as I know) French collective bargaining agreements. It's also sometimes described as a management tool used by HR depts. Here’s a description of how it works (article 8): http://cfdtsemaatos.free.fr/ACTUALITES/Projetaccorddefinitif... This may be a draft document, but the contents of article 8 is accurate and I chose it because it is "readable".

For terminology, see also:
“In a decision published on March 28, 2018, the Social Chamber of the French Supreme Court clarified the rules on the compensation of RTT days...”

This is not time that is made available for no particular reason. It is accrued specifically within the framework of RTT and to me, a translation that wouldn't spell it out would miss the point - it's implicit in French, but is it in English? In E>F, I'm always tempted to leave the original term when it's specific to the source country and has no exact equivalent in the target country, but always add an explanatory translation. I think this is just such a case.

CL3 because I’m not a native speaker of English and there may be a better way of translating this compte de temps disponible into English, but NC5 as to what it is and what it means.

Available time sum

Explanation:
I think it means the sum of the available time. it's like a formula for calculation of work time.

neutral  Julie Barber: Hi Patricia. I think that it's important to convey and account/record as hours worked are being allocated to it. You wouldn't allocate hours to a calculation

available working time account

Explanation:
Given the context, it's referring to a "working time account."

I would translate the text in the following way:

XXX's time worked will be accounted for in full and indivisible days by allocating the number of days worked per month to the available working time account.

See the usage of the term by the Commission of the European Communities:

French: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=COM:20... (page 32)
English: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=COM:2... (page 33)

Alternatively, if you want to stick more to the original text, then you could also translate it as follows:

XXX's time worked will be accounted for in full and indivisible days by allocating the number of days worked per month to the available timekeeping account.

agree  Julie Barber: Always good to learn something new. I do feel that the translator would need to work in an explanation or note regarding RTT/very useful thanks
