French term or phrase: résistance
This is the same text I just posted a query about 'opposer'. I am also having difficulty understanding résistance in the same sentence, please see paragraph below.

Does is mean resistance as in reluctance to fight OR does it mean resistance in combat, as in strength and resilience etc.??

As I said previously, this is about an online fantasy game set during the times of King Arthur. The Shars, Elfes and Lurikeens are different races/peoples in this game.

Thank you very much for any advice.

résistance
reluctance

Explanation:
They suddenly decided to aid the Alliance, but no one knows why considering that they are opposite to Elfes and Lurikens in everything: their exceptional reluctance to fight, etc...
The way I see it is, why would they be OPPOSED to elfes and lurikens just because of being resistant in combat (as in strength)? You are opposed to others when your ideology is different from theirs.
