This is from a focus-group participant response to on video game (storyboarded) with soldiers and "Brutes" (monster-like adversaries):

"...mais les trois planches du centre, les tractions, le tatouage et la brute qui lui écrase le bras, c'est un peu trop rapide et pas assez parlant, un peu trop cliché ..."

I'm not sure what he is referring to here by "tractions"... could this be an elliptical way of saying "contractions" and if so, would this refer to blackouts (cinematic effect)?

As you can see, I'm swimming without a life jacket here! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, chin-ups makes the most sense, the context was not clear to me initially, but I see this has to do with a character who is undergoing military training to join a fighting unit. So this is perfect. Thanks so much for your help.
