In other words, " fixed-odds betting is a form of wagering against odds offered by a bookmaker, an individual, or on a bet exchange." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-odds_gambling That's where the French word "contrepartie" (in exchange for) comes into to play.

disagree  Shannon Summers: These are not at all necessarily fixed odds games - it is basically any game where the player bets against the house (vs. other players). This includes blackjack, roulette, etc. See http://www.senat.fr/rap/r01-223/r01-22333.html

  -> Thanks! I realize there is no dash at all with this. There is, however, with "house-banked card games" (same thing) LOL With some words in English, there is debate on whether there should be a dash or not.
