Roni Osbern Aug 19, 2019:
Scrubbing/sealing Bouchage can mean 'sealing.' With Nathalie's suggestion of 'scraping' or 'scrubbing, and looking over the VOC info about cleaning VOC-contaminated items, I think this is accurate.

Some suggestions
https://www.cordial.fr/dictionnaire/definition/binocher.php
binocher = Aérer, ameublir le sol à la binette

https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/binoter
Biner avec un binot ou (par extension) biner, labourer superficiellement.

In English, this normally refers to the act of digging, weeding, etc. with a hoe.

In this case (talking about the cleaning of cisterns or tanks), I would guess:
> cleaning, scraping, scrubbing? (with a shovel maybe?)

"Binotage" may originate in hoeing soil, but this is more about the action of scraping. I couldn't find anything on "binouchage". However, the way it is written "curage/binotage/binouchage" makes me think the three terms are more or less synonymous.
