There is no mention of the socket being male in this reference from Claude-Andrew - the one in his other question is, not this one. He asked for the translation of 'tableau droit' as part of the whole text 'socle de prise tableau droit'. He didn't ask what was shown in the picture. The term in the website is a correct term and is used frequently - sometimes shortened to 'socle de prise TD'. If Claude-Andrew wanted to know what was in the (big) photo or what socket was in his boat then that's a different question altogether.

Yes, the DTP is a problem and not helpful at all, and because of that, the main photo is not always the correct photo for what is being described on the webpage. The three photos are three different parts sold separately, but out of laziness the website designer used all three photos in the description for each of the three parts. Would you agree with me that the two male sockets are of the type 'saillie' (as shown in the main photo and third photo) and it's the female socket that is of the type 'tableau droit'? See pages 73 and 75 of

If you translate the term in the description - 'socle de prise tableau droit' - then I believe that my translation is correct. If you go by the main photo rather than the description, then I would say you are correct.

I don't doubt your expertise at all. The problem is that the reference given to us is ambiguous and shows 3 sockets - 2 male 'socles de connecteur saillie' and 1 female 'socle de prise tableau droit'. The same three socket photos are used on each of 3 different socket product pages on the website. The large photo you see on each of the pages is always the first photo of the three even though the item being sold is actually the one in the second or third photo. Part of the problem is that the link with the source text shows three different 'Socles de connecteur' . The two male ones (photos 1 and 3) are 'socles de connecteur saillie' which are 90 degree(ish) sockets, while the female one is the 'socle de prise tableau droit' one that the question is about. This is called a straight panel socket in English.

Tony, I think the pictures in claude-andrew's reference are causing part of our disagreement. The 1st and 3rd photos show two types of plug, but the actual panel socket is shown in the 2nd photo.
