French term or phrase: ouverture protocolaire
Context:
(para header) Cette solution de téléphonie sur IP se différencie par:
L’ouverture protocolaire et le respect des standards qui permet de s’assurer du plus haut niveau de compatibilité avec les autres solutions standardisées du marché.
This is a company that provides unified communications solutions.
I thought this might mean gateway protocol, but from what I can find there is no official translation for this .. everyone seems to just use the English term, so am now wondering if simply refers to their approach to working with their clients.

English translation:use of open protocols
Explanation:
Here, "ouverture protocolaire" simply means "caractère ouvert du protocole (de communication)", i.e. "openness of the (communication) protocol". In other word, the system is using an open standard, which potentially allows other systems to communicate with it without using additional software (maybe a message broker) to translate.
ref. 1: "L’ouverture protocolaire incarnée par SIP, SIP/SIMPLE"
ref. 2: "Contrary to the vast majority of IM and presence protocols used by software deployed today, SIMPLE is an open standard like XMPP."
