Borderline wordt door psychologen/psychiaters onderverdeeld in diverse categorieen. Indeling is volgens DSM IV of ICD. De ICD indeling (WHO) is:
F60.3 Emotionally unstable personality disorder
Personality disorder characterized by a definite tendency to act impulsively and without consideration of the consequences; the mood is unpredictable and capricious. There is a liability to outbursts of emotion and an incapacity to control the behavioural explosions. There is a tendency to quarrelsome behaviour and to conflicts with others, especially when impulsive acts are thwarted or censored. Two types may be distinguished: the impulsive type, characterized predominantly by emotional instability and lack of impulse control, and the borderline type, characterized in addition by disturbances in self-image, aims, and internal preferences, by chronic feelings of emptiness, by intense and unstable interpersonal relationships, and by a tendency to self-destructive behaviour, including suicide gestures and attempts.

Ik heb lang gezocht, nergens kom ik pole inferieure tegen. Misschien bedoelen ze dat de ICD F60.30 - borderline heeft, met DSM IV criterium 3, laag/onstabiel zelfbeeld? Ik weet het niet zeker.
Ik weet dat in de praktijk in NL de diagnose borderline altijd nog verder wordt uitgewerkt, dus er worden allerlei subclassificaties aangebracht. Deze heb ik niet kunnen vinden op internet.
Een pole inferieure is overigens ook een kleiner uitsteeksel van klieren. Zie 2e URL onder.

Er is sprake van stemmingswisselingen. De 'pôle inférieur, dès l’adolescence' lijkt daarom niet te duiden op een voortdurend depressieve toestand. Anders zou er wellicht eerder 'dysthymie' hebben gestaan.
