Dans le cadre de la réparation du stator de l'alternateur un test diélectrique a été effectué.

Ces tests consistent en l’application d’une haute tension continue entre le circuit électrique et la masse. Le circuit électrique constituant le bobinage statorique est subdivisé en sections. Chaque section est testée par rapport à la masse et par rapport aux sections voisines elles aussi raccordées à la masse.

Lors de l’essai, alors que la tension approchait les 45 kV le circuit sous tension ***a amorcé par rapport à ses voisins***. L’opérateur coupe la tension, raccorde le circuit testé à la masse en respectant les règles d’usage, et s’approche du bobinage pour améliorer le positionnement des écrans isolants.
Lorsque sa main approche une barre et que l’autre main était posé sur la carcasse stator, un arc se crée (décharge capacitive = µA) entre la barre et la main et électrise l’opérateur.
