Thank you, quite clear. I just needed to be sure there is no special term in Bulgarian that won't be a simple calque. And thank you for the "point de prélèvement" and "point d'échantillonnage" hint!

OK. We need to be clear what is involved here.
<br>
1) A "sampling point" = "point de chute" is a place - here it is an address, a house. There are 250 of them here.
<br>
2) In each one, 4 interviews are done. Each interview is a "data point".
<br>
3) All 1000 interviews together make up the "sample" (from the population of all millions of people who could be interviewed). This sample I think is your "извадка".

P.S. "point de prélèvement" or "point d'échantillonnage" are more usual terms than "point de chute".

Donal, in terms of statistics we use "извадка". "Проба" is for lab testing or so. Unfortunately, my knowledge of statistics is poor. I wanted to be sure there wasn't any special term as it happens sometimes.

Hi Ekaterina,

It seems to be a paraphrase: "a point at which a sample is taken". This is a correct way of saying a "sampling point". I understand the Statistics background, English and French but of course have no Bulgarian. I would have expected there to be a shorter way of putting it - any fairly basic Statistics textbook in Bulgarian should have the term.

Yes, DLyons, I have asked the question in both pairs just in case. Far more translators work in EN-BG pair so the chance to get the good suggestion is much bigger. How do you appreciate the suggested translation there?

A "point de chute" is a point at which a sample is taken i.e a "sample point" or "sampling point". So the answer to your EN-BG question should also work here?
