judgment after trial Explanation: One translation given by IATE is 'judgment after trial'. If you take trial to mean an examination of the evidence (which may or may not include presentation by the parties), then the phrase still makes sense. -> "Trial: A formal presentation of facts to a court or jury in order to reach a legal resolution." http://url.ie/ude -> "Trial - Law. Examination of evidence and applicable law by a competent tribunal to determine the issue of specified charges or claims." http://url.ie/udf So the judge seems to be saying that, after examination of the evidence (presumably including the settlement reached), there is no need to have the parties present their cases.
