Once again, we have a very common word, "ajaa", being used in a (seemingly) trade-specific sense that I can't get a grip on.

What does it mean to "ajaa" assets and depreciations?

No. Ajaa is not slangy, it means to run a task in a computer system. And it does not mean kirjata, but run a computer task. https://fi.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/tietokoneajo

Right. In that sense work jargon, but still not slang, more like everyday way of use. Instead of saying "ajaa poistot kirjaava tietokoneajo, we simply say ajaa poistot". I can't imagine someone using such long and clumsy expressions in real life 🙂

Asker: OK, fair enough. But "pysyvät vastaavat ja poistot" is not a task per se, it is information to be entered as part of a task. (Right?) That's why it seemed as though "ajaa" was equivalent to "kirjata" in this particular context.
