puristuskenkä shoe press Explanation: The word order in English is the reverse of what it is in Swedish and Finnish - these are the quirks of language. Sorry! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs 43 mins (2004-08-13 20:52:34 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The patent referenced in Marju\'s link was published in Germany. Not to quarrel with the translation from German, but an English language journal like TAPPI weighs more in my mind than a patent translation. But wait! The term \"shoe press\" is reversible in instances where used in contrast with \"press roll\", viz. \"the press nip where this action occurs is formed between a stationary press shoe and a rotating press roll...\" but the order is normally \"shoe press\" as the article shows. Oh, for the unambiguity of Finnish! Reference: http://www.tappi.org/index.asp?pid=26059&bhcd2=1092414617 |
